Hey Kingz,

As we continually strive to maintain a positive and inclusive environment on our forum, I wanted to throw out an idea for discussion regarding the practice of resetting awards, username items, and user inventory items in the event a member faces a ban.

Rationale: In the spirit of upholding the values and integrity of our community, it's essential to consider the impact of awards, username items, and items found within the inventory of a user. These accolades often reflect a member's contributions, positive engagement, and adherence to forum guidelines. However, when a member faces a ban due to policy violations, it raises questions about the appropriateness of retaining these awards.

How the Aforementioned Affected Me as a New User: For example, I was extremely interested in buying the Hidden username item. This item is limited and all purchases have been exhausted. However, the user that bought the only 5 available, is now banned. Therefore, no one else can ever buy them again.

Proposal Overview: I suggest that we discuss the implementation of a policy wherein awards, username items, and user inventory items are reset when a member is banned permanently. This would include badges, recognition, or any other form of acknowledgment tied to a user's profile.

Benefits:
  1. Maintaining Accountability: Resetting awards align with a fair and consistent approach, reinforcing accountability for adherence to community guidelines.
  2. Encouraging Positive Behavior: This practice sends a clear message that our community values positive and respectful contributions, encouraging members to uphold these standards.
  3. Preserving Community Integrity: It helps to maintain the integrity of our community by ensuring that awards reflect ongoing positive engagement.
How We Can Implement This:
  • Automated System: Explore the possibility of an automated system that resets awards when a member is banned.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate this policy in the forum guidelines to ensure transparency and awareness.
Let's open up the floor for discussion and make decisions that benefit the overall health of our community! We are a community, and your input is crucial in shaping the policies that govern us.

Looking forward to your insights.

Best regards,
Josh

We have a couple options.

Mandatory wait time for resetting items:
A) 60 days
B) 90 days

Resetting items stock:
A) Re-stocking the item without changing the total stock count (e.g. Hidden will still be a 5 total item stock, but the banned owner(s) of the item will still maintain the items in their inventory)
B) Removing the items from the banned members profile and maintain an authentic stock ratio
C) Re-stocking the item and updating the total stock count (while including the total stock owned by perm banned members)

Let me know what you guys think would be the more logical approach

Usernames can be claimed from banned members after a 60 day waiting period. Although this does not include 1L usernames https://kingz.net/help/claim-usernames/

Awards more than likely won't need to be reset unless I'm missing something

My original thought was in regards to permanently banned users. I feel if there is zero change that they would be allowed back, then I was go with 60 days. If the user has some hope of returning to the community, then I would side with 90 days. As for question 2, I would go with option B.

Cheers,
Josh
