Robinhood's own chain, live for barely two months, apparently pulled in more daily revenue than Ethereum on August 30. According to the report, the network processed 5.52 million transactions that day, a record, with users launching 22,600 tokens in a 24 hour window. Most of the $2.66 million in revenue came from memecoin trading tools rather than general activity.
For a chain this young to beat Ethereum on fees for a day is a notable flip given the gap in age and total value secured between the two. It says more about how much cheap, high frequency memecoin deployment and trading can generate in fees than about Robinhood Chain overtaking Ethereum as infrastructure. Ethereum still carries far more value and a much wider set of applications, this looks like a single day where volume concentrated somewhere new.
The 22,600 token launches in one day is the number that stands out most. That is an enormous amount of new tokens being minted daily, and it lines up with the broader trend this year of low friction launchpads turning token creation into something closer to a high volume consumer app than a deliberate listing event. Whether that pace of launches and trading fees is sustained on Robinhood Chain, or whether this was a one day spike tied to a particular hot cycle of tokens, is not clear from the numbers given.
Anyone tracking Robinhood Chain's daily numbers versus Ethereum since launch, is this a one-off or has the gap been closing for a while?
