More violent typically.
However, in a country like America you can't get rid of guns. That country has more guns than people and half the population have very strong beliefs on the gun and their freedoms protecting them from the government and they have rather convincing arguments on why it should not be imposed. Gun culture is just too strong in America to get rid of it. Also have to take a look at America's politicians for context, while they're already all pretty shit as a politician typically is. "Gun control" is for control and that's all the government sees it as. A very minimal amount of people go out their way looking to use their gun on other's humans, and many will tell you that they keep it because it's better to have it than not have it when necessary.
A gun-free zone is the most vulnerable place in America.

All of that aside, if the country could get a reset or we lived in a perfect world; then it'd be probably better to go without the guns. Then again, a lot of people regardless are just sick in the end and violence will be violence regardless. Nothing would change but the weapon used.
