You can check out Moondrop's Katos / KXXS (Starfield if KXXS' is too expensive). Not sure how well they do in the gaming area so you could probably google that

I use Astro A40s wired. Alittle expensive I think? But they have lasted me years. All I ever use!

I use a headset but it hurts sometimes and it’s probably better to use earbuds

Headsets are more budget friendly, but will create a dent in your head long term, or mess up your hair. However, for FPS games I think there is no earbuds that can provide the in game sound quality that even the most expensive earbuds have, if anyone has any brand recommendations I'll happily concide my opinion.

Earbuds are also easy to lose and break, especially if you're a degenerate. I'd probably stick to headphones until you've mastered managing a deskspace (speaking from experience and running through many earbuds and headphones).

Also, if you don't clean your ears every single day like brushing your teeth, eventually, the sound quality will detoriate, thats another benefit of headphones (for me). Maybe TMI but thought I'd add that there if you are choosing to invest in something.
