There's a real story behind this one. A pet donkey named HeeHaw was shot dead by a Cedartown, Georgia police officer during a search on private farmland, according to Fox 5 Atlanta's report from late August. The farm owner, Hannah Israel, says officers entered her pasture without permission looking for a suspect or missing person, and shot the donkey after it approached them braying. An officer has been placed on administrative leave and the family has hired a lawyer, with a GoFundMe running for legal fees. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says its deputies weren't involved, only Cedartown PD and Polk County PD.
Roughly a day later, $HEEHAW (Justice for HeeHaw) showed up on Solana. Contract is EEpng77ZPn9FbgbT4xsRjwuxNCcMBYq3HTwEscyTpump. The token's own description matches the news almost line for line, framing it as justice for the donkey.
The numbers are sizeable for something 30 hours old. It's done $13.18m in volume against a $5.8m market cap and $511k in liquidity, meaning it's turned over more than twice its own valuation in a day. Price ran from $0.00034 to a peak of $0.00576 and currently sits right at that peak, about 12% under the highest market cap ($6.58m) it touched. Trading is split close to evenly, near 59,700 buys against 49,600 sells, across more than 15,000 buying wallets and 13,600 selling wallets, out of 7,278 holders total. Average trade size is around $120, so this isn't a handful of bots pushing the tape, it's a real crowd of small trades.
Whether it stays attached to the underlying story or fades like most of these once the news cycle moves on is anyone's guess. Anyone following the actual case or the GoFundMe for the family?
