Hi kinda new to SEO and was wondering if anyone knows how to index backlinks or do you just have to wait for Google to crawl for them

Depends on the site and the quality of link. You could use a service like linksindexing.com

I usually get a 60-70% index rate, but you have to confirm that the links you submit are indexable by Google and not blocked by .htaccess or something.
