Not really that crazy, but when PM'ing a user onsite, even after they've seen and responded to your message, it'll show "Unread".

I think it's a feature that is enabled by default when users upgrade to Devine:

Hide conversation read status
  • Hide conversation read status
Hides your read status in conversations to all members.
