What happened
Hugging Face subsidiary Pollen Robotics unveiled Microduck on Thursday: a 25cm, sub-800g bipedal robot with 15 motors, a camera, microphone, speaker and a small lidar, with an articulated beak that doubles as a gripper. Pre-orders are open at $399, shipping before Christmas 2026. Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue pitched it as an open-source robot trainable with reinforcement learning.
The token followed almost immediately. The $MICRODUCK pool is 15.9 hours old — younger than most of the coverage of the robot itself.
Why the timing matters twice
The launch lands mid-rumour: multiple outlets reported this week that Nvidia is in advanced talks to buy Hugging Face at roughly $13bn, with one report saying a deal was agreed at $12.9bn. None of it is confirmed by either company. The token's X handle is MicroDuckNVDA, and its listed website is Pollen Robotics' own product page — neither of which indicates any affiliation. Treat the branding as borrowed, not endorsed.
The figures
+4,890% over 24h, $6.97m volume, $2.26m market cap, $52.7k liquidity, 3,722 holders. Trades split 18,012 buys to 17,011 sells — roughly balanced, so people have been exiting as well as entering.
Nothing here is the project's doing. It's a hours-old coin riding a news cycle it has no part in, and it can unwind as fast as it filled.
Anyone seen the team acknowledge it, or is this purely unaffiliated?
