Why do people use the term on-site, instead of saying, "on the website itself" sounds so stupid to me, and it sound like their talking about a construction site or something, I've been around many forums and see it alot, always seemed so childish to me.

Is it only me tho? Have people forgotten to speak properly English?

Not sure tbh. It’s been the lingo since I came to the “com” 7ish years ago. I feel like it’s almost an abbreviation. Instead of saying confirm on the website it’s shorter to say confirm on site idk.

I prefer to mention the noun directly by involving the website name. For example, "Confirm via Private Message that you are speaking with me on Kingz via PM."
