I don't want to be a conspiracy carl but this could be an exit method like a rug pull in crypto for some liquidity in terms of profit and actual loss throughout the sites journey with the devs. If that theory is simply delusional the devs will be suffering some hardships at the office for awhile.
Also, apparently the stake.com owner invested into the site kick.com. That could be an upcoming potential target for those who did the initial attacks as they breach into the db of that site like how Twitch became a victim in the past also.

My guess it was someone working within Stake or Kick who ran off with funds, definetly an employee who pulled off a scam.
